The following oral history transcript is the result of a recorded interview with Helen Williams Drutt (English) on July 5, July 7, and October 20, 1991. The interview took place in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and was conducted by Darrel Sewell and Marina Pacini for the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution.
The original transcript was edited. In 2024 the Archives retranscribed the original audio and attempted to create a verbatim transcript. This transcript has been lightly edited for readability by the Archives of American Art. The reader should bear in mind that they are reading a transcript of spoken, rather than written, prose. DARREL SEWELL: This is Darrel Sewell interviewing Helen Drutt English for the Archives of American Art on July 5, 1991, at her house on Rittenhouse Street. Hello, Helen.
