Wambach unknowingly also brought these words to the 50 girls in the Chelsea Piers Girls Leadership Camp this summer.
The girls, ages 13 to 18, watched Wambach’s commencement speech and heard some words of wisdom from Chelsea Piers Connecticut’s Executive Director Greta Wagner before going outside for a little Zumba in the rain this week.

Wambach said that it was a way for the three retired players who have a combined four World Cup (Rampone has two, Boxx and Wambach have one each) and six Olympic gold medals (two each) to give back to the nation that has given them so much.
“Any time that we can go around the United States, this is our way of giving back to a country that has been so great to us,” Wambach said. “We gave back when we played, and I think that it’s more important to give back now after we have retired.”
Wambach said things the trio learned when they attended camps as youths played a role in their being able to represent the USA on the world stage.
