    From Ennis Road to venues across the globe, Maureen, Karen and Teresa Ennis, lovingly known as The Ennis Sisters, have lived their childhood dreams of becoming internationally regarded singer-songwriters and touring artists.

    From their debut album launch in the summer of 1997, to proudly celebrating their 25th anniversary in 2022, the trio of sisters have seen the ebbs and flows of the music industry, overcome hurdles and experienced the highest of highs in the music business.

    Now, ahead of their provincial 25th anniversary tour and upcoming new project On We Go, the trio sat-down with The Newfoundland Herald to, in their own words, reflect on a lifetime in the music business, on the roads less travelled and many lessons learned.

    The Ennis Sisters are a Canadian musical family group from St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador.

    Biography

    The Ennis Sisters, Maureen, Karen and Teresa, started playing music at a young age, encouraged by their father John and their mother Ceilie.[1] The trio released their first album, Red is the Rose, on June 25, 1997. The album sold 15,000 copies within 18 months of release, and has gone on to sell more than 40,000 units.[2] By the end of the year, the album was named Best Folk Album by the Music Industry Association of Newfoundland & Labrador (MIA).[3] The following year, they received Female Artists of the Year and Group of the Year awards from the MIA.[4]

    The Ennis Sisters released their second album, Christmas on Ennis Road, in 1998. The album also landed the girls their own Christmas special on CBC, An Ennis Road Christmas.[4] In 1999, Maclean's magazine named the trio one of the Top 100 young Canadians to watch.[5]

    They returned to the studio to record their third album, Three, in 2000. The same year, they received an East Coast Music Association (ECMA) award for Album of the Year.[6] The album was also named Album of th
